For 22 years, Brian was a news reporter and anchor on television and radio, the last 16 as a correspondent and anchor for CNN, based in Los Angeles, Tokyo and New York.
He then ran his own business for 12 years, traveling around the United States to create informational videos for corporations, foundations and government agencies.
In 2009, Brian became a fully credentialed financial advisor in the industry. As part of his varied strengths, Brian connects Asian interests to opportunities in North America, serves as an advisor to start-up companies in several fields, and consults on commercial real estate transactions. He also speaks frequently to civic groups about international conflicts and current events, and has been interviewed on business programs about international commerce and finance.
In 1976, Brian was the one high school boy in the State of Iowa named a U.S. Presidential Scholar. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree at the University of Missouri School of Journalism, where the faculty awarded him the Edward R. Murrow Scholarship as the top student in broadcasting. He is the recipient of a national Emmy, the DuPont-Columbia University Silver Baton Award, the George Foster Peabody Award (all for Tiananmen Square coverage) and a second Peabody Award for coverage of the Persian Gulf War.
